While thinking about what this documentary should look like, I met a photographer, Mr. Samir Delić, at one of the large protests in Novi Pazar for a free Serbia against discrimination, oppression, and everything that’s wrong in this country, a movement started by students.

Samir is not just someone who lives for photography; he fights to show others that nature isn’t here merely to be exploited. Through his photographs, he helps us see that we can look at life and society from a side where a better future exists.

In this video you’re watching now, there’s a glimpse of what Samir tells and explains to us in the documentary. This is a moment especially dear to me because it helped me see Rogozna and the nature around us in a way I hadn’t before.

Samir speaks here emotionally and naturally, but also with hope, that we will all wake up and realize that Rogozna, and all the nature around us, isn’t just something to be used, but something much deeper. That it’s a space where we can and should feel like we belong. Because, as he says, we belong to it, not the other way around.

Rogozna isn’t just a mine. And it never was.
