Avangarda grew out of the need for a publication that goes beyond reporting what happened. We write to understand how systems work, who makes decisions, who benefits from them and who bears the consequences. We cover human rights, politics, society, the environment, culture, media, technology, psychology and subjects that often fall somewhere between daily news and the major political stories. Local stories matter to us, but they do not limit us. A story from one city, village or community can often say more about a society than a press conference ever could.
